Maitre Chocolatier: More than the usual sugar rush

Let me take a quick survey. Those who don’t like chocolates, raise your right hand. Come on, don’t be shy. No takers? Anyone? Fine, if you’re really that gaga over chocolates, then going to Maitre Chocolatier is a must.

Maitre Chocolatier is a boutique café located at Abreeza. Famous for their imported chocolates and specialty cakes, it’s not just the usual choco-dessert shop. Who serves white chocolate carbonara or grilled chicken in chocolate sauce? Hmmm. Very intriguing.

Upon entering, you’ll immediately notice the stylish interiors and feel the romantic ambiance. Very posh, I must say. Although it’s a bit intimidating at first, what sets Maitre Chocolatier from others is its identity. Definitely not your usual run of the mill dessert shop or restaurant.

We didn’t expect for them to have a really extensive menu but surprise, surprise. For a “dessert shop”, they serve quite a variety of food items. From pizza to pasta, sandwiches to rice meals and chocolate drinks to cocktails. They also inject a unique approach to their food as they incorporated chocolates to recipes you didn’t think would blend. We ordered beef pizza for carbs and one of their best sellers, Golden Euphoria (Ferrero Hazelnut Crunch Cake). I was particularly impressed with the food presentation as you could see the effort given and sophistication. We were also given free samples (chocolate rhum balls, I think) while waiting for our orders. Nice touch.

While their cakes might look small, don’t be fooled by its size. The serving was already enough for the two of us since the cake is packed with flavor despite what your eyes suggest (the distinctive Ferrero crunch and nutella comes to mind).

During our second visit, we tried their rice meal and pasta, coupling them with an ice blended dark chocolate and their signature cocktail. Once again, the presentation was top notch. While it’s safe to say that chocolate desserts are their forte, the chicken meal and pasta weren’t also shabby.

Linguine Pesto Sauce w/ Parm-crusted Chicken (Iove the white chocolate sauce on the sidings)
Ice Blended Dark Chocolate
Bailey's Chocolate Vodka Martini

Prices are a bit steep but for the food quality, ambiance and service, it’s worth the bill. If you’re feeling the urge to splurge, then a visit at Maitre Chocolatier is definitely recommended. It’s also good especially for anniversaries and romantic dates with your lady love. Other food items from Kaye’s previous visits are below.

Choco Mint something cake (Kaye forgot the name)
Sweet Revenge (Lindt Molten Lava Cake)

*Guys, this is the part where you pay attention* They also sell ready-made Ferrero Rocher chocolate bouquets and chocolate baskets filled with assorted goodies, a perfect gift for the ladies on any occasion. I actually bought a 1-dozen Ferrero bouquet for Kaye as a birthday gift last December.

Sweet (literally)
